When it comes to field recording, we often use the idiomatic expression "collecting sounds" as if sounds are something we can grab, fix and commodify in the result. However that's a kind of illusion which recording technology brings about. We never catch sound as it unfolds itself as we never hold time. Using DIY broadcasting in unconventional ways, SoundCamp/ Reveil simply reminds senders (broadcasters) of often forgotten nowness of sound in present time, and listeners of the pleasure of having Tele Ears from all around the world.

Jeju island is a volcanic island, set in the southernmost part of the Korean peninsula. It's full of wild vegetation, birds and ever-changing weather. 7 kilometres away from the northern coast, Wasan-ri is a small middle mountainous area on the way to Halla mountain, with a population of under 400. We set our base camp in Wasan-ri and give attention to what's happening on the spot: we expect big wind, many birds, dogs barking and more unexpected sounds.
