The original seed mix here included cowslips, cuckoo flowers and snakeshead fritillaries, which can take 7 years to flower from seed and are now well established. This area is kept damp and shady by overhanging trees. In Spring it is flooded by a pipe coming from the borehole, creating a damp meadow.
Follow the same track back to the SHED. As you enter the Compound, find the Sound Box in a small timber building on your right.
>> Retrace your steps, passing the pond on your left. From here you can turn right and then left beside the scrub woodland past the small circle meadow to return to the SHED.

>> Alternatively, turn left between the ponds and go round the base to the steps that lead to the top of Stave Hill.
