This meadow was sown with Emorsgate Dry Bank mix in 1987. Primroses Primula vulgaris were introduced here in 1994 and have since become well established. The bank is North facing which means that it receives a lot of light and does not become too dry in Spring. This is ideal for primroses because it stays relatively cool and damp.

This is a good place to spot the Green woodpecker feeding on the antheaps in the meadow.
>> Retrace your steps, passing the pond on your left. From here you can turn right and then left beside the scrub woodland past the small circle meadow to return to the SHED.

>> Alternatively, turn left between the ponds and go round the base to the steps that lead to the top of Stave Hill.
